When I teach my Intro to Mindfulness Meditation course, I’m always struck by the sense of relief people feel when they learn that the point of meditation isn’t to sit in lotus position without a single thought running through their minds. Rather, the point is to sit down every day and breathe into whatever is going on for us; to check in with our bodies; to notice the patterns in our thoughts; to open ourselves up to insights; and ultimately to bring some grace into our lives and our relationships off the mat.
